The Maryland Department of Labor, Adult Education team is pleased to announce a new - in-depth and content-focused professional development opportunity. We're excited to share that we have developed what we're calling "Gather & Grow (G&G)." These offerings will utilize the flipped-classroom approach around essential topics in adult education. We will leverage subject matter experts to facilitate and enhance peer-sharing on a specific topic. These offerings will take place on Saturdays and be available intermittently throughout the year.
The structure will be as follows:
-
instructors will sign up for the G&G of their choice
-
instructors will receive a pre-recorded presentation about a topic that must be viewed before the pre-work assignment
-
instructors will receive and complete a pre-work assignment - it is essential that this step is completed prior to the training
-
instructors will "gather" for a virtual professional development G&G to share their experiences and responses to the pre-work assignment
The recorded presentation will provide instructors with the importance of lesson plans, steps to creating a lesson plan, lesson plan examples, and the pre-work assignment. All pre-activities will be provided to instructors after they have registered. During G&G instructors will reinforce understanding of the topic presented in the pre-work assignment through facilitated peer-collaboration. The virtual gathering will last approximately 1-hour.
Early registration will ensure ample time for activity completion. There is no cost to attend, and all are welcome!
